The Orange County Workforce System One-Stop Centers provide a unique service to the community by providing a single-source access to a variety of employment services.  The comprehensive portfolios of current training and employment services ensure both job seekers and employers effective and efficient means for addressing employment needs.  A brief overview of the services available to job seekers and employers are listed below.  For more information on the services listed below, contact the nearest One-Stop Center to speak to a representative.

Recruitment

rombul1a.gif (164 bytes)    One-Stop Centers offer a complete range of recruitment services that can provide personnel for a variety of positions.  Recruitment can be conducted locally or expanded to include the entire state or a national search.  Recruiters have the option of searching for workers at the local, state, and national level. The resources of American's Job Bank from One-Stop Centers offer:

        Recruitment of entry-level, skilled trade, and professional personnel
        Local or statewide recruitment
        National recruiting for difficult-to-fill positions
        On-line access to resumes

Labor Market Information

rombul1a.gif (164 bytes)   In an effort to assist businesses in properly positioning themselves in relationship to other businesses, One-Stop Centers offers a portfolio of helpful labor market information.  Statistics and information available includes:

        Local, state & national data
        Area skills availability
        Current unemployment rates
        Prevailing wage rates by occupation
        Career trend data
        Economic trend data

Workforce Development/Training

        Promote relationships between employers and educational institutions
        Customize training for an employer or group of employers
        Develop apprenticeship programs

Financial Incentives

These incentives help employers to offset the hiring and training cost.   While helping individuals become productive contributors to the employment marketplace.

        Identification of target populations
        Workers Opportunity Tax Credit assistance
        Workforce Investment Act assistance
        Trade Readjustment Act assistance
        On-the-job training (OJT)

Economic Development

Services businesses can expect include:

        Business development assistance
        Financial and incentive assistance
        Enhance or Improve coordinated employer services

Outplacement Assistance

rombul1a.gif (164 bytes)   Downsizing has a traumatic effect on workers, employers and the community.  In the event that employers are forced to consider downsizing, One-Stop Centers offer help to minimize the negative impact.

  One-Stop Centers specialized services include:

        Rapid Response Team Assistance
        Guidance in obtaining funding assistance

        Outplacement and career transition services

Employer Information

One-Stop Centers have the capability to respond to your employment and human resources questions.  One-Stop Centers offer employers the option of requesting information regarding employment and human resources issues.  Employers will be directed to the proper resources if the requested information is unavailable.
Employer Information Assistance Includes:

        Response to workforce issues
        Workers Compensation issues

        Unemployment Insurance regulations

        OSHA regulations

        Equal Employment Opportunity issues

SERVICES FOR JOB SEEKERS

 

   Workshops

        Workshops are designed to inform jobseekers of different job search methods and labor market information.  In addition, workshops help jobseekers with resume development, interviewing skills, career exploration, financial planning, and stress management.

    On-the-Job Training

        On-the-job training gives eligible participants the opportunity to work with employers to develop specific training skills that could possibly lead to employment in that field.  The length of training depends on the complexity of the job, trainees' qualifications and funding.

    Reemployment Center

        Reemployment Center is a self-directed job search that includes resources, directories, job board, publications and reference library.  Access to computers, fax machines, phones, copier and postage.

    Basic Skills Training

        Basic Skills Training is designed to provide remediation in basic language or English, reading, vocabulary, and math skills.  GED and ESL classes are available to all job seekers.

    Employment Assistance

        One-Stop Centers are staffed with knowledgeable job developers who are aware of current labor market trends and openings.  Job developers can assist job seekers with interviewing techniques, resume preparation, and employer contacts.

    Retraining

        Retraining is designed for jobseekers who lack transferable job skills or who need retraining in high demand occupations.

    Individual Assessment

        An independent evaluation of the abilities, needs, and vocational potential of a jobseeker.

SERVICES FOR BUSINESS

The Orange County Workforce Investment System is a true one-stop employment service provider.  Utilizing the One-Stop system as the unified service delivery platform, this unique collaboration of government, non-profit, public and private sector agencies offers employers a complete array of services to meet their employment needs.

Services can be customized to meet business and industry employment requirements as a means to maintain employer competitiveness and involvement in the workforce development system.  The Orange County Workforce Partnership enables employers to meet hiring goals, lower training costs, and reduce turnover rates.
