The Orange County Workforce Investment Act is the lead agency for the Vision 2020 Coalition, and the Orange County Department of Education the fiscal agency. A five year Vision 2020 local partnership grant was awarded to the Coalition by the U.S. Department of Education, with a start date of May 1, 1996. The Coalition is a business-education partnership which is becoming ever more important as we strive to enable students to apply their academic training to their own life experiences. The Vision 2020 Coalition is the County's response to the challenges of the new world of work: fast-paced change, technological innovations, and the need to apply one's own knowledge effectively to be excellent, meet deadlines, address problems, and stay competitive.

Vision 2020 Coalition:

Orange County's twenty-year history of community collaboration has resulted in an emerging coalition of multifaceted partners that support Vision 2020. The Coalition includes nearly 500 concerned individuals from business, labor, parents, students, private industry councils, community based organizations, associations of K-16 education, vocational/student organizations, and city, county, and state government agencies. The members of the Coalition are also supported by nearly 13,000 businesses that supply resources, training, mentoring, shadowing, and job opportunities for youth.

Orange County WIA Vision 2020 related support services:
A major way the Orange County WIA contributes to the Coalition is through the youth oriented WIA programs. The program offers at-risk and economically deprived high school students, and out of school youth (throughout Orange County) pre-employment and work maturities skills training, occupational skills training, subsidized work experience, and job search assistance.
